Highlights: The Oswego Bucs swam a great meet against the Baldwinsville Bees on Thursday. Oswego
turned in 15 best in-season times and was able to win both the 100 breaststroke and the 500 freestyle.
Eighth grader Treyse Miller turned in his fastest 500 ever, touching the wall in a Sectional-qualifying time of 6:00.58. He was more that 30 seconds ahead of the 2 nd place swimmer from Baldwinsville when he finished.

Equally impressive was junior Jake Smith's win in the 100 breaststroke. The two swimmers from Baldwinsville took the race out in a pace that was faster than Smith had ever been before, but he hung in there just behind them, trying to match their pace. Then, with 25 yards to go, Smith made his move and was able to power to a 1:15.66 finish, winning the event in his best time by more than two seconds!

Other notable swims came from most of the rest of the team. Senior Josh Evans anchored Oswego's medley relay in his fastest 50 freestyle (28.71). Junior Jake Smith posted his fastest 50 free ever (26.48). Sophomores Nate Dunn, Curtis Kaye, Jacob Sledziona, Tyler Tice, and Jack Tonkin, all posted at least one best time. Dunn swam his fastest 50 free (30.76) and 100 butterfly (1:37.49). Kaye touched in his fastest 100 freestyle (1:02.11) and his fastest 100 backstroke (1:31.86). Sledziona swam his fastest butterfly split on the medley relay (29.59) and led off the 400 freestyle relay with his fastest 100 freestyle (1:05.77). Tice dropped 15 seconds in his 500 (7:23.58) and led off the 200 medley relay with his fastest 50 backstroke (41.18).

Finally, Tonkin swam his best 200 freestyle of the season (2:21.62). Additionally, Treyse Miller also added best times in both the 200 I.M. (2:21.48) and the 50 freestyle as a member of the 200 freestyle relay (27.08).

All in all, it was a good meet for Oswego. Baldwinsville has a good team and swam well enough to earn the win, but I'm pleased with how my Oswego swimmers got up and raced, many times from behind.

The Bucs are looking forward to competing against Baldwinsville and several other teams at Webster's Yeti Invitational this Saturday.
