Highlights: The Oswego Buccaneers had a very competitive meet with the visiting F-M Hornets on Tuesday.
The Bucs were able to win 9 of the 12 events, but ultimately F-M's depth proved too much to overcome.
winners at the meet. DeLapp took first in the 200 freestyle (1:54.03) and the 100 backstroke (1:01.60). The
backstroke performance was his best ever. Miller won the 200 I.M. (2:22.53) and the 100 breaststroke
(1:12.78). Tonkin took first in the diving event (234.75) and the 50 freestyle. His time of 25.44 in the 50 is his
best ever. Sophomore
Jacob Sledziona was the 100 butterfly champion as well, with an impressive lifetime
best of 1:09.83.
In addition to the individual Buccaneer event-winners, many others posted best times during the
meet. Sophomore
Tyler Tice had an excellent meet. Tyler led off the 200 medley relay in his best 50
backstroke ever (37.19). He also posted his fastest 100 freestyle (1:09.33) and 100 backstroke (1:26.74) at the
meet. Another sophomore, Nate Dunn, posted a pair of best times as well. He took 5 th in the 200 freestyle
with his best time of 2:33.23) and 4 th in the 100 butterfly. His time of 1:30.24 in the butterfly was a seven
second drop.
Sledziona dropped several seconds in his butterfly win, but later in the meet he dropped even more
time (6 seconds) to touch 3 rd in the 500 (6:28.82). Senior Josh Evans had a good meet as well. Evans took 3 rd
in the 100 freestyle with a best time of 1:09.71.
The boys really stepped up today and swam some great races. We have our final dual meet on
Monday, and we will be working to post some impressive times there to finish up our regular season. Then
we will begin gearing up for Sectionals.
